“If one really wishes to know how justice is administered in a country,— One goes to the unprotected — those, precisely, who need the law’s protection most! — and listens to their testimony.” — James Baldwin
Using the classic symbolism of comic book villains/heros, The BLK Mystic seeks to redefine the idea of a Villain expanding on its original anglo-french meaning of lowly commoner or bound to the land (of a villa), to meaning one of the people, or person of the land. Questioning through music and digital art what society deems a villian, their characteristics, and how our ideas of what that means are used to force people to conform to toxic standards, oppressive governments, and human inequity. On the opposite side are those deemed heros really here to help us change for the better, or just enforce the status quo?
Which side are you on?
